Um, in my phone. You know about the shortage of delivery drivers in Britain? Well, we’re expecting delivery any day now, but there’ve been all sorts of delays.
Thanks, April. We’ve been through a siege, but with one of our dogs, Moose. He slipped a disk and lost the use of his back legs but he seems to be recovering. Life’s been complicated. It was Wednesday or Thursday when I realized that I wasn’t going to get a post written and thought I’d make the most of it, since the little guy’s hopelessly cute.
I had begun to worry – and wonder if I missed a notice you were taking a break. As you can tell from my alias, I definitely approve of this distraction. Sending good wishes to Moose’s recovery and glad to hear that Minnie and Fast Eddie are ok too !
Oh, Ellen! Mazel tov! Is he named in honor of Big Red? He looks like such a sweet cat.
I brought home two kittens 6 weeks ago. They are so much fun & tearing down the house bit by bit.
Oh, I am sorry. We had a red cat way back when (that was Big Ol’ Red Cat), and it was awful when he died. He was, as a friend said, the most endearingly annoying cat. Our vet at the time swore that red cats share a personality type. Based on a survey of two cats, it seems to be true.
What a handsome cat. Our Big Ol’ Red also had a bad heart–there was fat around it–and died younger than we expected. Rough guess (he came to us as a stray) was about 12.
How is it that this smidgen of a cat, who puts no work at all into being a cat but simply is one, gets a better response than my long-winded, much-worked posts?
That’s not a serious question. Or a complaint, really. I understand that I’m basically furless and decades past the cute stage of my life. It’s just an observation.
Ohhh, Ellen, he is adorable! And a post about him is perfectly sensible. I love all cats, but I have a lifelong special love of red tabbies, especially males (there is a small percentage of female red tabbies). Never met a red tom who wasn’t loaded with personality.
I had been told about this new addition Ellen, funnily enough, just after a silent vehicle hummed by as I was having a chat with the owner of a similar new small furry menace of the canine variety, who had just peed on my shoe.
Sorry, to be clear, that was the furry distraction peed on my shoe, not the owner of it.
Anyway, lovely to see pictures, good self control in only posting two.
I was hesitant too. Eddie spent a couple of days studiously not noticing that a kitten had moved in. Then they had a standoff or three. At this point, they’re not friends but there’s no hissing or yowling. I think it’ll be okay.
I also worried when we got Eddie. We had an elderly female, Moggy, who (like Queen Victoria) was not amused, especially when Eddie chased her tail. But they managed to find a way to live with each other.
Well, there is hope. You never know, some older cats seem really happy with little ones around. Maybe they are not that different from people :) catty cat things
Like people, I’ve read (and observed), they don’t like all of their kind, but they will usually find a way to live together. Unlike humans, who aren’t quite as good at it.
Ha ha, I’ve seen all sorts with cats. One I was sitting for a neighbor is best friends with a neon yellow budgie that flew in their apartment. You never know (my missy would’ve killed it …)
To some extent, I swear, it’s wiring. Either that or it’s built in early, early, early. From the time we got him, Eddie was spooky about people. Li’l Red Cat, though? He’s damn near fearless.
More sensible than this???? Rubbish! :-)

I hope this doesn’t mean that anything untoward has happened to Fast Eddy.

No, Fast Eddie’s fine, thanks for asking, although he’s not convinced that the new addition is a good idea.

Having pets can be a bit of a rollercoaster. I’m glad Moose is getting better. The young chap is definitely worthy of a few photos.

Two? I don’t think I’d survive two kittens. And yes, absolutely we named him after Big Ol’ Red Cat. He promises to be friendly and a real clown.

We’re not doing a very good job with real reality, so it may have been wise to turn virtual reality over to them.

Of course, maybe that says I’m the not-sensible one, given what I know about his habits.

Even at a theoretical 9 weeks (the vet suspects he’s younger), he’s fully stocked with personality.
