Whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year . . .

Winter sunset

. . . I wish you a good one.

And if your culture doesn’t have a holiday at this time of year? No problem. Find something else: a good cup of coffee, a moment when the wind stops blowing, a memory of love. Whatever works for you, I wish you joy.

  1. Happy (insert festival of choice) to you and yours. We celebrate quietly with our son in law, remembering Helen and a sadly growing list of friends and family.
If our eyes are open, there’s still much to enjoy. The glorious sunrise a few days ago, a pheasant suddenly popping up at breakfast time after apparently roosting in the beech tree outside the window. The nuthatch that has taken to visiting our bird table with the tits and robins. Gifts to be treasured. I’m not so keen on the grey squirrels that hoover up the bird food, my “live and let live” self in conflict with my “that’s there for the birds” self.
Well, that’s me done pontificating. Enjoy yourselves!

    • Signs here, I think, are that that it’s coming a little early. Just this morning I noticed the first bulbs coming up. A couple of miles up the road, the first daffs are in bloom. Surely thaty didn’t do that in December last year. But I’ll stop fretting. Spring will come and we’ll be grateful to see it. All the best.
